With any career move, you have to have a plan! Here are 5 easy tips to help you along the way: First thing is First… What do you want to do?? Need help identifying what you “like” and “dislike”? This free 22-minute MAPP (Motivational Appraisal Personal Potential) career assessment (71 different questions) will help you. You may be surprised by the results… I know I was! Here’s Next Deployment's custom link to the MAPP Assessment. Next: Reach out to a Career Coach to help you narrow down your path and work on your 5-year flight plan (where you want to land in 5 years). Oh, and in case you didn’t know, you have a Career Coach right in the palm of your hands! 😉 Thirdly: Identify the company or type of company you would like to work for. Do a little digging and research if this company is the right fit for you! Twitter employees are now 100% remote… Another company may provide stock options as an incentive to join. Either way, see if your values align with theirs. Fourth: Network, Network, Network!! Use your personal contacts to see what is out there. LinkedIn’s networking platform is the best place for this. If you are interested in a certain company or position, see who you know that works there or in that field. Reach out directly to their recruiters and ask questions… it shows that you are interested! Start with a “Hello… my name is”. Here is a link to one of our posts on “Networking with a Purpose”.
Lastly: Add your Accomplishments to your Resume and share like crazy!! It is easy to add your job description but what future employer just wants to see that you only did your job?? They want to know how you stood out from your peers. How did you save the company time or money? How did you bring the team together to create additional revenue for the company? How did you… you get my point!! If you can add a number, percentage, or dollar sign to it… ADD IT!!
